MOORE, OK, May 21, 2013 - A volunteer driving through the devastation of the Moore tornado last May passed miles of cement pads where homes once stood, and suddenly came upon a black rectangular object still standing, apparently unphased.
"I came across an area where a home used to be," said Derek. "The tornado completely removed all of the house from the foundation, the only thing that remained was a Liberty safe!"
The F5 tornado that touched down in Moore on May 20, 2013, ripped homes into the air before shredding them into millions of small pieces, and flinging the wreckage for miles. The terrific winds swept the cement pads clean of debris before moving on. As Derek noted, even those fatal 210 mile-per-hour swirling winds could not remove the Liberty safe from its place.
Photos show a few scratches on the safe but nothing to indicate it was once surrounded by a full-sized home filled with all the appliances, furniture, belongings, bricks and framing that constitute a typical home.
When properly bolted to the foundation, property owners report their Liberty safes have endured tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, and thieves looking to haul them away. For this property owner in Moore, OK, everything that mattered the most, next to family and pets, was all that remained inside that Liberty safe. It was a foundation upon which to rebuild and start over.
Liberty safe, the best-built safes on the planet.
