Lock failure after 3 days....I think I made a bad decision
written by Lisa Whitman on February 12, 2016
I ordered a Revere 23 in the black finish. Waited a month and when it arrived, the dealer told me the wrong color was shipped. He upgraded me to the Colonial 23 and I was happy. Installed an outlet and light kit and it was perfect! Now three days in my house and the electronic lock has already failed and I can't open my safe to get to my pistol or jewelry. I'm so disappointed with my purchase. I bought a Liberty safe because I thought it was a quality product and my dad had one for years. Now I'm hoping I did not make a bad decision. Contacting the dealer this morning and hoping for good results because after googling "Liberty safe won't open" I'm worried. Looks like this happens a lot and I specifically ordered the electronic lock so I could open it quickly and without having to hunt for reading glass to read a manual dial. Frustrated at spending so much to get so little.
Liberty's Response:Sorry about this mishap Lisa. Your electronic lock should be working. We gaurantee if for 5 years, parts and labor, in-home service included for no charge. We will need to get a locksmith to your home ASAP and get it serviced or replaced. Let us know how it goes...and no, you did not make a bad decision. We back up everything we produce and want it to work for you when you need it to.

Excellent quality for the price, but

If you are really concerned with security, this safe is too light and its side wall too thin to prevent thieves from opening it with your own hand tools or removing it from your home quickly.
Liberty's Response:Tom, there are some TL rated safes with thicker bodies out in the market place, but they come with a price and heavier weight, sometimes as much as 6000 pounds. What we try to accomplish is a combination of heavy duty RSC UL Listed security features and fire protection that pushes the weight limits for main floors and bearing wall weights. It is true, given enough time anyone can get into a safe, even cut or torch it. It's one of the reasons we now offer our new SAFELERT security device where any cutting, torching, prying or movement of the safe sends you an immediate alert on your smart phone. Plus it never hurts to put our DANGER: BLACK POWDER ENCLOSED sticker on the door.

I have the timber ridge 25. I opened it and factory comb worked 2 times with the safe door open so i put all my guns/money etc in it. I try to get in the safe after closing door and trying the combo 8 hours of trying and I am lock-out. I called liberty and I was told that I have 2 options...keep trying the combo till it opens or call a locksmith and have it drilled out.The safe is 2 days old. Disappointed in everything I want my old safe back!!!
Liberty's Response:Hello Dobson. Thanks for letting us know about your troubles. Let's see if we can regroup tomorrow morning and see if there are any other solutions that can work better. We'll send you an email for the details.
